Frequently Asked Questions

What time does school begin and end?
Although the school day begins at 7:45 a.m., students should be in the classroom by 7:40 a.m. The instructional day ends at 3:15 p.m.

What time does the tardy bell ring?
The tardy bell rings at 7:50 a.m. all students must be in their classrooms at this time if not they will be counted tardy. Students counted as tardy must get a Tardy Slip.

What is the required dress code?
Refer to p. 3 in the 2015-2016 HBG Student Handbook.

How may I contact my child's teacher?
To contact your child's teacher call the school at (210)444-7800 or by e-mail (e-mail addresses are on the Classroom Webpages on the "Meet the Teacher" section).

You may contact your child's teacher during their scheduled conference time (see schedule below) or by appointment. Phone calls will not be transferred to classrooms during instruction.

1st 10:30-11:25 a.m.
2nd 8:30-9:25 a.m.
3rd 1:05-2:00 p.m.

Are birthday celebrations allowed?

Delivery of special food, balloons, flowers, etc., for students' celebrations will be kept in the office until school is dismissed. We discourage the practice of sending these items to school.

Parents may celebrate birthdays by distributing a store-bought cake or cupcakes during dismissal with the teacher's approval. Please do not include items such as: pizza, ice

cream, and candy bags with non- nutritional items.

Classroom Parties

Students will participate in school- wide celebrations on Friday October 30, 2016, Friday, December 18, 2016, and Thursday June 2, 2017. Parents may be asked to donate food for these celebrations, but food must be store -bought and in the sealed packages.

All food must be store-bought and in the sealed package. No homemade food can be served to students.
